By doing so, Nexium® 20mg Tablets prevent the activity of this chemical messenger from being activated and causing the contents of the stomach to become acidic. This is accomplished by inhibiting the reabsorption of the acid from the gastric and duodenal systems. Once the stomach acid is removed from the body, Nexium® 20mg Tablets are unable to inhibit the reabsorption of the acid from the stomach. Nexium® 20mg Tablets are indicated for the short-term treatment of frequent heartburn with or little acid before recurring severe heartburn. Directions for Adults Age 18+:Swallow 1 capsule with glass of water before eating in the morning. Take 1 capsule per day for 14 days. May take 1 to 4 days for full effect. Do not take for more than 14 days or more often than ever 4 months, unless directed by physician.
