Nexium Control 40 mg 40 mg are used to treat the symptoms of reflux caused by acid reflux disease (also known as heartburn, acid regurgitation or acid reflux). It is also used to treat the symptoms of heartburn and heartburn if gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is suspected.
Nexium Control 40 mg are for use on the stomach. They should be taken with water. Do not crush or chew Nexium Control 40 mg. Do not take the medicine after the food has passed. Nexium Control 40 mg may take longer to work if you take it with a heavy meal.
Before taking Nexium Control 40 mg do not take more than one dose per day. If you are stopping treatment before 3 days, talk to your doctor. Do not take extra medicine without talking to your doctor. In addition to the recommended dosage, other medicines and dietary supplements should be used along with the Nexium Control 40 mg. Nexium Control 40 mg are only available with a doctor’s prescription. In case you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Continue to take them as you would normally. Do not stop using Nexium Control 40 mg unless advised by your doctor. If you are stopping treatment before the doctor has suggested it, you must stop using it at the first sign of an adverse reaction. If you notice any symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, hives, or swelling of the face, lips cheek, tongue, or throat, stop taking and seek medical attention immediately. You must keep using Nexium Control 40 mg for the full time of your treatment. If you do not notice any symptoms of an allergic reaction, or if the allergic reaction does not respond to treatment, or gets worse, you must stop using this medicine and see a doctor at once.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Nexium Control 40 mg should be taken with a full glass of water. Do not take more than one dose per day. If you are stopping treatment without consulting your doctor, take it as soon as possible. If you think you are having a side effect, talk to your doctor. You may need to continue taking this medicine for a limited time after the expiry date.
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you are stopping treatment at the first sign of an allergic reaction. Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you have had a allergic reaction to esomeprazole, any other medications or food items, except to the extent that the doctor has prescribed. Nexium Control 40 mg can worsen any symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, hives, or swelling of the face, lips cheek, tongue, or throat. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any skin irritation or itching.
Some side effects of Nexium Control 40 mg may occur. Tell your doctor if any of the following side effects are experienced:

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine, as it may slow down the healing process of the stomach and esophagus. It is advised to avoid excessive drinking of alcohol when using this medicine. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any chest pain, sudden severe sweating, fast heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, back pain or muscle pain, headache, dizziness, or a feeling that you are experiencing pain or discomfort in your chest.
This medicine can cause a temporary decrease in blood pressure which may lead to dizziness or fainting. In some cases, kidney or liver problems may occur. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
This medicine can make you more sleepy, so you must wait until the medicine is well gone. In addition, you should avoid driving a motor vehicle which may cause dizziness or fainting.

More severe side effects:Severe stomach discomfort, bloody or tarry stools, or severe abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, or vomiting. If you notice these, stop taking this medicine and seek medical attention immediately.
Children less than 18 years:Rare side effects may include:

What is Reflux?
Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet (“foodpipe”) which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause you symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).
Do I get instant relief from taking a Nexium tablet?
Nexium Control is not meant to bring immediate relief. You may need to take the tablets for 2-3 days in a row before you feel better. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.
How much to take• The recommended dose is one tablet a day. • Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don’t feel an improvement immediately. • You may need to take the tablets for 2 or 3 days in a row before your reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation) get better. • The treatment length is up to 14 days. • When your reflux symptoms have completely gone you should stop taking this medicine. • If your reflux symptoms get worse or do not improve after taking this medicine for 14 days in a row, you should consult a doctor. If you have persistent or longstanding, frequently recurring symptoms even after treatment with this medicine, you should contact your doctor. Taking this medicine • You can take your tablet at any time of the day either with food or on an empty stomach. • Swallow your tablet whole with half a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablet. This is because the tablet contains coated pellets, which stop the medicine from being broken down by the acid in your stomach. It is important not to damage the pellets.
Alternative method of taking this medicine• Put the tablet in a glass of still (non-fizzy) water. Do not use any other liquids. • Stir until the tablet breaks up (the mixture will not be clear) then drink the mixture straight away or within 30 minutes. Always stir the mixture just before drinking it. • To make sure that you have drunk all of the medicine, rinse the glass very well with half a glass of water and drink it. The solid pieces contain the medicine – do not chew or crush them
